We’re Farmco, a manufacturer of steel farm equipment, including cattle feeders, horse feeders, hay transport equipment, and more. We’re based in Lancaster County, PA, with a network of dealers across the United States.
Our Story
Our story begins back in the 1970s when Grandpa Jonas started a side project on the family farm, working with his sons to build horse-drawn wagons for the local Amish community of Lancaster County, PA. Things went well and by the early ‘80s, cattle feeders were added to the wagon models already in production.
We soon outgrew the small shop on the farm, so in 1985 Ben (Jonas’ son) purchased a couple of acres of land from his dad, adopted the Farmco name, and built a larger shop where our line of products could continue to grow. In 2009, we expanded again, buying several more acres of land and enlarging our manufacturing facility to its current size of over 18,000 square ft. As the years passed and requests came in for new or custom pieces of farm equipment, the range of Farmco products also continued to grow, eventually including creep feeders, portable grain bins (such as our 3 ton grain bin), and a full line of horse hay feeders.
One benefit of having the manufacturing facility right next to the family farm was the ability to include the next generation in operations. Ben’s two sons, Michael and Marvin, began helping in the shop in their late teens. In 2002, Michael took the reigns as manager and CEO of Farmco. Today Michael, along with our dedicated manufacturing team, continues the tradition of building tough, quality farm equipment. All of us at Farmco give glory and praise to God for the growth and success we’ve experienced over the years.
Our CEO
Michael and his wife live in Lancaster County, PA. Aside from his responsibilities at Farmco, Michael enjoys fishing, hunting, and spending time outdoors in Potter County where his family has a small cabin. He also enjoys landscaping and on a nice Saturday, you will probably find him outside trimming shrubs, mowing the yard, or planting. You can contact him directly at michael@farmco.ag.
